As part of my affiliation with the Jefferson Area Libertarians (JAL), and based on the success of my redesign of the JAL’s logo, I was asked to help name and craft a logo for a new grass-roots sub-organization, on a rush basis.

The JAL explained that the purpose of this organization would be to advocate legislation to protect private property in Virginia against the U.S. Supreme Court’s “new interpretation” of eminent domain, as articulated in its June 23, 2005 ruling in Kelo v. City of New London. (see the “Lost Liberty Hotel” page for more information)

To quickly capitalize on the shock factor resulting from this ruling, the JAL wished to name this organization, and put together a preliminary website to promote in its news media interviews, within 48 hours.

This logo was the result of my efforts. See the website at VirginiaPropertyRights.org.

In the weeks following the development of this logo, a potential donor was identified who was interested in funding the placement of print ads for VirginiaPropertyRights.org, and the JAL needed to show what such an ad might look like.  The following is the that I wrote, designed and produced on a rush basis, as an example of the creative resources the JAL had to call on (click to enlarge):
