Dog organizations that deserve to be supported

This will be a regularly-updated listing of dog-focused nonprofits that I think deserve to be supported.

If you know of one that’s you think should be listed here, please email me.

Best Friends: A remarkable organization that operates a huge no-kill sanctuary in Utah, conducts spay and neuter programs and other efforts to reduce the incidence of killing otherwise adoptable dogs and cats.  Read more here.

ASPCA: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is “the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world.”  Read the history of this anchor organization here.

Humane Society of the United States: Another legendary nonprofit, but is much more activist-oriented, in that it lobbies for improved laws to protect animals and engages in other campaigns.  Read more here.

UnchainYourDog.org: A classic grassroots organization, born of practical need when one caring woman saw a terribly neglected dog tethered to a doghouse, rescued him, and gave him a new life, filled with love.
