About Passage to Israel
Passage to Israel is a stunning journey through time, place, religion, and culture, a captivating composition of the natural and man-made in one of the most seductive countries on earth. Curated by cultural critic, journalist and author Karen Lehrman Bloch, the book exhibits more than 200 breathtaking images of Israel — landscapes, seascapes, architecture, interiors, and holy sites — by 34 photographers. See a sampling of these photos here.
With a Foreword by Chloé Simone Valdary, Passage to Israel shows how the small strip of land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea is a unique bridge between Africa, Asia, and Europe, a profusion of cultures, customs, and traditions.
According to Bloch, the need for such a book has never been more acute:
“Right now, the world of culture treats Israel like a pariah state. From BDS to journalists’ reluctance to cover anything positive that happens in Israel, the Jewish state’s enemies are clearly winning this war. Most people around the world hear nothing about Israel unless it is attempting to defend itself from terrorism, which is often falsely depicted as it initiating violence. I created Passage to Israel to help present the incredible beauty, vibrancy and diversity of this unique nation, in contrast to the false, manufactured perception.”
Passage to Israel will be published on November 1, 2016, by Skyhorse Publishing.
